One of the first things we ask of our speakers &amp; organizers is to provide their .org username. That&#8217;s how we can identify someone as the same person across all the various sites that exist &#8211; the camp website, the community site, and gravatar. <figure id=\"attachment_833\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-833\" style=\"width: 131px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-833\" src=\"https:\/\/2016.nashville.wordcamp.org\/files\/2016\/08\/plugin-developer.png\" alt=\"WordPress Plugin Developer Badge\" width=\"131\" height=\"133\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-833\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Plugin Developer<\/figcaption><\/figure>When we add a .org username into the profile of a speaker or organizer, it automatically pulls in helpful information, like a profile picture.<\/p>\n<p>If you created your .org login a long time ago, you may or may not know that <figure id=\"attachment_835\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-835\" style=\"width: 132px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-835\" src=\"https:\/\/2016.nashville.wordcamp.org\/files\/2016\/08\/theme-developer.png\" alt=\"WordPress Theme Developer Badge\" width=\"132\" height=\"131\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-835\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Theme Developer<\/figcaption><\/figure><a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\" target=\"_blank\">your .org username comes with a profile<\/a>!<br \/>\nIf you&#8217;ve never taken a look at one, <a href=\"https:\/\/profiles.wordpress.org\/matt\" target=\"_blank\">check out Matt Mullenweg&#8217;s<\/a> for a really rich example. Your profile connects to your gravatar account, collects all of your .org activity (like reviews of plugins, or things you\u2019ve favorited), and has a place for your gravatar image, contact information and a short bio.<figure id=\"attachment_836\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-836\" style=\"width: 130px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-836\" src=\"https:\/\/2016.nashville.wordcamp.org\/files\/2016\/08\/translation-editor.png\" alt=\"WordPress Translation Editor Badge\" width=\"130\" height=\"131\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-836\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Translation Editor<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n<p>As you get more involved in the various areas of WordPress over time, you&#8217;ll find that your .org profile grows! If you favorite a plugin, write a post on a community or camp site, or participate in the community in some significant way, <figure id=\"attachment_831\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-831\" style=\"width: 129px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-831\" src=\"https:\/\/2016.nashville.wordcamp.org\/files\/2016\/08\/core-contributor.png\" alt=\"WordPress Core Contributor Badge\" width=\"129\" height=\"132\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-831\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Core Contributor<\/figcaption><\/figure>it appears on your profile. There are even some pretty badges that show up at the top right that signify your involvement in different areas.<\/p>\n<p>Not that we need an excuse to get more involved with our favorite CMS, but .org profiles make our involvement more visible. <figure id=\"attachment_832\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-832\" style=\"width: 134px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-832\" src=\"https:\/\/2016.nashville.wordcamp.org\/files\/2016\/08\/core-team.png\" alt=\"WordPress Core Team Badge\" width=\"134\" height=\"130\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-832\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Core Team<\/figcaption><\/figure>And there&#8217;s a bit of a thrill to knowing that all the hard work we put into making WordPress awesome &#8211; no matter what form that work takes &#8211; is recognized and recorded for the entire community to see.<br \/>\n<Br \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><strong>Want to get a speaker badge?
