He recalls Nashville\u2019s BarCamp\u201cun-conference\u201d as among the\u00a0first to emerge in the tech startup community, and Schatzkin\u2019s been involved in a number of Nashville tech-related events since then.<\/p>\n<p>Schatzkin\u2019s journey to Nashville began on Valentine\u2019s Day in 1994, when he moved from Los Angeles after an earthquake. A year later, he started selling music on the Internet, a word so new\u00a0at the time that he often had to explain what the Internet was.<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F162586983&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&visual=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&color=ff5500\"><\/iframe>\n<p>Four years later, Schatzkin sold his company. He next appeared on the digital scene at BarCamp in 2007, which was about the same time he switched from Windows to Mac. He owns <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cohesionarts.com\/\">Cohesion Arts<\/a>, a company involved in photography, music, multimedia, and entertainment. He was the photographer for BarCamp last year, and he took photos for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.podcampnashville.org\/\">PodCamp in 2014<\/a> as well.<\/p>\n<p>Schatzkin has been an avid WordPress user for the past five years. As an early adopter, he initially used Typepad to blog, but then shifted almost all of his sites to WordPress.<\/p>\n<p>Living in Nashville for the past twenty years, Schatzkin has seen how the digital tech industry has evolved from a highly analog culture to a thriving, entrepreneurial ecosystem backed by solid support from the tech community.
